A RELIGIOUS LIFE ADAPTED TO DIFFICULT TIMES: TO MODEL THE SPIRIT, THE VIGOR AND FRESHNESS OF THE EARLY CHURCH...
A Charism is a free gift of God which cannot be demanded or come from one's own human capabilities (although they can help and support it). It is personal and conferred on the founder, preparing him/her for a vocation and particular mission in the Church. It is collective, because it involves other people who identify with the lifestyle of the founder in the realization of a life project. It is ecclesial because it is offered, through the founder and his followers, for the growth and development of the whole Church. It is not transferable, because God gives unique characteristics to those persons who have to start a movement in the church.

The Charism is contained in our name, "Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary." It is manifested in our particular way of living the Gospel, integrating the tradition of the Church. It is expressed and developed in a manner of living, a way of being in the world (cordial, available, a contemplative with a mission) Our charism contains three fundamental aspects: 1. A CALL TO LIVE THE ESSENTIALS OF RELIGIOUS LIFE: Rooted in Christ, the Absolute of our lives; grounded in His Word, seeking a greater conformity to the sentiments of the hearts of Jesus and Mary.

2. IN THE MIDST OF THE WORLD: No habits, no distinctive signs, no convents; our witness of life and our apostolic action is like yeast in dough. We live in continual discernment and respond to the needs of time and place, according to the possibilities of our communities and the gifts of our sisters, with availability for the mission expressing fidelity to the Father, to make "His Kingdom Come". "Not in vain are you called Daughters of the Heart of Mary. Would that you bear this name with all the esteem it deserves! It teaches you that you are the beloved of the dear Mother of God and of how much you have to love her" |

3. WITH THE VIGOR AND ENERGY OF THE EARLY CHRISTIANS. An authentic fraternal life, the fruit of attachment to the Lord, being of "One heart and one soul" by placing all goods in common for the service of others, especially the needy. Strengthened by the Eucharist and living the Word.
